Editorial & Documentary Film Wedding Photographer | UK & Destination
I’m Ben Gilholm, a UK and destination film wedding photographer capturing weddings with an editorial eye and a documentary approach. My work blends the texture and timelessness of film with honest storytelling - creating imagery that feels both effortless and enduring.
About my approach
My approach to wedding photography is rooted in observation and intent. Working solely on film, I focus on the quiet in-between moments - the unposed gestures, the light, the texture - that define a day. Each frame is composed with an editorial eye, but led by real emotion. Whether in the UK or abroad, I create images that feel timeless yet alive, preserving your story with honesty and artistry.
My Services
-
Weddings
As your main photographer, I will be there for you all day, I won't ever set a time limit. Let me know how you want your images to look and how you want your day to flow and I can work with you to create your perfect day.
If you like the idea of film alongside digital photography, I can work with another photographer as a secondary. I can work with photographers that you choose, or I can recommend some for you.

Portraits
Not just weddings, if you would like some engagement portraits, family portraits, or just some casual portraits, either as a couple or just for yourself, I can do that for you.
Nothing beats the warm, timeless look of portraits on film.

Other Services
All my services include high resolution digital scans. I don't have a limit on how much film I shoot, so you never need to worry about missing a shot.
I can also organise prints and albums, just let me know what you would like.
Prices
I charge around £2,500 for a full day.
I don’t have set times to start or leave, although I like to be early and I want to make sure I’ve captured everything before I leave. We can work out the details between us.
I will deliver you high resolution, digital copies of pretty much every picture that I make. And I don’t have a set amount of rolls of film that I will shoot, I will use whatever it takes (and usually a lot more!)
If you have any questions, just get in touch, I love talking about what I do.
Why film?
I recently asked one of my couples why they chose an analogue photographer, and their answer was simple; ‘because analogue photography is timeless’
We are living in a world where AI is getting bigger and there is more focus on editing than actually photographing. With analogue I will accurately capture your special day with the art and the realism that it deserves. Leaving you with pictures that will look great forever.
My ‘go to’ film stocks are Kodak Portra and Gold for colour, as well as Cinestill and Candido films for low light, and Kodak Tri-X for black and white. I have been using these films for years and know exactly how to shoot them, and what I am going to get. I pair this with a number of classic 35mm cameras; mainly a Leica M6, a Nikon F2, and a Pentax K2. I will also use my Yashica 635 medium format TLR camera for even more detail and separation.
I will use as many rolls of film as I find necessary, as I don’t like shooting to a limit. My return is usually between 300 and 400 high quality images, and as I don’t edit them I will get them returned to you much quicker than many digital photographers.
If you would like prints and albums, we can work on that together to create something beautiful for you to cherish forever.
